- Plan, execute, and finalize ISO/IEC 42001 compliance audits in accordance with ISO/IEC 17021-1 requirements, ISO 19011 guidelines, and other auditing best practices

The “PECB Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor” examination satisfies the requirements of the PECB Examination and Certification Program (ECP). It evaluates competency across the following domains:
Domain 1: Fundamental principles and concepts of AI management systems
Domain 2: AI management system requirements
Domain 3: Fundamental audit concepts and principles
Domain 4: Preparation for an ISO/IEC 42001 audit
Domain 5: Conducting an ISO/IEC 42001 audit
Domain 6: Closing an ISO/IEC 42001 audit
Domain 7: Managing an ISO/IEC 42001 audit program

Certification
PECB ISO/IEC 42001 Certification Path and Requirements
Following a successful exam result, you may apply for one of four professional credentials based on your level of experience. All credentials necessitate passing the PECB Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor Exam (or an approved equivalent) and signing the PECB Code of Ethics.
1. Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Provisional Auditor
Suitable for those new to the field who have acquired theoretical knowledge but lack practical auditing or industry experience.

Exam Requirement: Pass the PECB Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor Exam (or equivalent)

2. Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Auditor
Designed for professionals with foundational experience in AI management and auditing.

Exam Requirement: Pass the PECB Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor Exam (or equivalent)

Professional Experience: Two years in total, including at least one year specifically in Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Management System Audit Experience: A minimum of 200 hours of qualifying audit activities

Additional Requirement: Sign the PECB Code of Ethics
3. Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor
The standard credential for experienced professionals qualified to plan, lead, and manage AI management system audit teams.

Exam Requirement: Pass the PECB Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor Exam (or equivalent)

Professional Experience: Five years in total, including at least two years specifically in Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Management System Audit Experience: A minimum of 300 hours of qualifying audit activities

Additional Requirement: Sign the PECB Code of Ethics
4. Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Senior Lead Auditor
The highest tier for expert practitioners with extensive, long-term leadership experience in auditing AI frameworks.

Exam Requirement: Pass the PECB Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor Exam (or equivalent)

Professional Experience: Ten years in total, including at least seven years specifically in Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Management System Audit Experience: A minimum of 1,000 hours of qualifying audit activities

Additional Requirement: Sign the PECB Code of Ethics
Note on Qualifying Audit Activities: To be recognized by PECB, your audit hours must adhere to best practices and should encompass activities such as audit planning, managing audit programs, drafting audit or nonconformity reports, conducting on-site audits, and leading audit teams.
General
- Training, certification, and examination fees are included in the course price.
- Participants receive comprehensive course materials containing over 450 pages of explanatory content, case studies, best practices, exercises, and quizzes.
- Attendees who complete the course will receive an attestation worth 31 CPD (Continuing Professional Development) credits.
- If a candidate does not pass the exam, they may retake it free of charge within 12 months of their initial attempt.
