Course Outline

Introduction

Data management involves the processes of storing and processing information. Within an enterprise context, data management takes on significantly greater scope. The volume of data and the speed required for its processing, security, sharing, and analysis are critical factors.

This course is designed for entry-level engineers. It covers the various technologies, tools, architectures, and design methodologies employed to manage large volumes of data. We examine traditional data storage methods, such as relational databases, alongside newer, less structured approaches.

The course compares traditional file systems with distributed file systems, and traditional server architectures with clustered server architectures, all within the context of managing and processing big data across distributed systems.

Attendees will complete hands-on exercises and assessments, followed by instructor coaching and group discussions.
